Our volunteers play a variety of roles throughout the weekend, the most important of which is providing our guests, talent, and sponsors with a fantastic, one-of-a-kind experience.

Please read on for more information about the SEED Food and Wine Festival, volunteer roles, responsibilities, and shift schedule.

WHAT IS SEED FOOD AND WINE

SEED Food and Wine Festival is the premiere plant-based festival in the country. 

​The 10th Annual SEED will take place in Austin, October 23-25 and provide plenty of plant-based programming!

We are honored to say we are the first plant-based food and wine festival in the nation dedicated to showcasing sustainable living, plant-powered pioneers and athletes, and of course, great food from the earth for everyone to enjoy. 


SEED WEEK OFFERS ONE OF A KIND EXPERIENCES

  • LEARNING EXPERIENCES

    We will offer workshops, chef and garden demonstrations during The Grand Tasting Village.

  • TASTING EXPERIENCES

    A showcase of vegan fare, wines, craft beers and lifestyle products will be served every day of the festival.

  • DINNER & EVENTS

    One-of-a-kind, specialty dinners and parties with Top Chefs serving plant-based fare, cocktails and wellness products.

  • INDUSTRY WORKSHOPS

    A SEED Summit tent at the Grand Tasting Village will feature industry experts, speakers, workshops and panels.

  • Yes, SEED’s mission is to not only elevate conscious plant-based living here in Texas, but to also support programs and non-profit organizations around the world that share the same vision. Therefore, proceeds from events during SEED will directly benefit the Central Texas Food Bank.

  • The SEED Austin Festival is October 23-25 in Austin, TX.

    Descriptions and role-specific requirements include:

    Door

    Scanning tickets, placing wristbands on guests, check-in will call.

    Greeter/ Gift Bag Distribution

    Welcome guests, offer assistance as needed, pass out gift bags as guests depart

    Talent

    Escort chefs and speakers to their stages for appearances and book signings

    Security

    Act as the eyes and ears of the event – secure points of entry to ensure all guest arrive through the main entrance – report conflict and other situations to professional security personnel.

    Bag Preparation

    Stuff VIP and General Gift Bags with sponsor materials

    Usher (Demo & Seminar)

    Assist guests and indicate general admission and VIP seating options, ADA and sign language areas

    Set Up

    Assist with the set up of events and the festival, includes moving boxes, setting up tables and chairs, hanging and placing banners and stanchions. 

    Break Down

    Assist with the breakdown of the event, from tables, to signs, to chairs etc.

    Recycle Concierge

    Ensure guests use recycle and trash bins appropriately and explain the different disposal options

    Server

    Present plates, pour wine, must be dressed in professional ALL black attire with closed toe shoes

  • In addition to role-specific requirements, all SEED volunteers must adhere to the volunteer policies and general requirements outlined below.

    • Volunteers must be at least 18 years old.

    • Volunteers must attend one of the Volunteer Orientation sessions offered in September. Orientation dates and location will be announced soon

    • Volunteers must report for duty on time (at least 15 minutes before scheduled shift) and stay for the entire shift. Volunteers should check in with their assigned volunteer captain upon arrival to their assigned event.

    • Volunteers must be courteous, respectful and maintain a professional demeanor at all times.

    • Volunteers may not smoke, eat or drink in public while on duty. 

    • Use of alcohol and/or controlled substances before or while on duty is strictly prohibited. Violators will be subject to immediate dismissal.

    • Failure to perform duties as expected/required may result in dismissal and will affect future participation as a volunteer.

  • Volunteers will receive one (1) complimentary Grand Tasting Village ticket or Texas Taco Throw Down ticket in return for (2) two shifts worked. You will also get to stay at certain events you’re volunteering for after your shift is over or before your shift starts (The Texas Taco Throw Down, SEED Grand Tasting Village)

    Volunteers also receive a 2025 SEED Food & Wine Festival volunteer t-shirt to wear while on duty. Limit one t-shirt per volunteer. Please do not wear your volunteer t-shirt to any events when you are not on duty. Water and snacks will be provided in designated volunteer break areas.

    You will also be invited to an amazing thank you after party!!

  • Yes, most volunteers will be provided a 2025 Seed Food & Wine Festival volunteer t-shirt to wear while on duty and are asked to wear the following items depending on the event.

    The Texas Taco Throw Down

    Please wear your volunteer shirt and please wear nice jeans or dress pants, and closed toe shoes.

    Dinners

    You must be in an ALL black dress, or black dress pants and black dress shirt, with nice black closed toe shoes. Tie or bow tie is optional.

    Grand Tasting Village

    Please wear your volunteer shirt and wear comfortable dress shorts or jeans or a skirt with closed toe shoes or nice sneakers.

  • No. All events are rain or shine! indoor or tented options will be available.

    Glad you asked! One important thing every single volunteer can do to support the festival is by getting on social media, calling and emailing friends and sharing the festival and hopefully inspiring them to get involved: by also becoming a volunteer, coming to an event or becoming a sponsor.
