We are proud to support our official non-profit partner, the Central Texas Food Bank which has grown into one of the largest hunger-relief organizations in the region serving 21 counties. Its accomplishments include distributing millions of pounds of food annually, partnering with hundreds of local agencies, and implementing programs that address both immediate and long-term food insecurity. The food bank has been recognized for its innovative approaches to hunger relief, such as mobile food pantries, nutrition education initiatives, and assistance with government benefits like SNAP. Its work has significantly reduced food insecurity and strengthened the community by ensuring access to nutritious food for those in need.
THE HISTORY OF SEED FOOD AND WINE
For 26 years, SEED Founder Alison Burgos has been producing, organizing and promoting large scale events and destination weekends a cross the country drawing crowds of 30,000 people annually.
In 2008, while based in Miami a long with SEED co-founder Michele Gabor, Alison was diagnosed with rheuma toid arthritis and became confined to a wheelchair for several years before undergoing knee replacement surgery followed by months of physical re ha bilita tion.
Becoming more conscious of what she put into her body, she began consuming more fruits and vegetables, until a dopting the plant-based diet she eats today. Realizing that changing her diet had put the spring back in her step, Alison and Michele saw the opportunity to teach others how to eat their way to better health.
As foodies and highly aware of the burdgeoning culinary scene in Miami, they realized that with Alison's extensive experience as an event producer that organizing the first of its kind plant-based food and wine festival was the best way to educate and enlighten others. Since 2008, they have led the best plant-based festival in the country held annually in Miami drawing loyal fans and participants from a cross the globe.
After moving to Austin, Tara Notvest fell in love with the local vegan community and saw the need for SEED's one of a kind experience here.
She looks forward to taking the reins and growing the legacy of the brand to a new city in its 10th year.
Alison Burgos
CO FOUNDER
Alison is no stranger to organizing and promoting large scale events. Since 1998, Burgos has produced destination weekends and events in Las Vegas, Orlando, Miami, Atlanta, Charlotte, and Puerto Rico. And Burgos knows how to draw a crowd – her events attract over 30,000 people annually.
When she became diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis in 2008, she was confined to a wheelchair from 2011 to 2012, then underwent knee replacement surgery, followed by six months of physical rehabilitation to be able to walk again.
Becoming more conscious of what she put into her body, she began consuming more fruits and vegetables, until adopting the plant-based diet she eats today. Realizing that changing her diet had put the spring back in her step, Gaber and Burgos saw the opportunity to teach others how to eat their way to better health.
As a foodie, and highly aware of the burgeoning foodie scene in Miami, they realized that with Alison’s extensive experience as an event producer, that organizing the first of its kind plant-based food and wine festival was the best way to educate as well as enlighten others.
TARA NOTVEST
CO FOUNDER
Tara’s journey began in Mississippi, where her love for animals and nature first took root. She had an 8-year career in commercial and residential real estate in New York City and Miami. While she honed her professional skills, she realized her true passion lay elsewhere—cooking vibrant, plant-based meals and championing a lifestyle centered on compassion for animals.
Austin proved to be the perfect stage to merge her professional expertise, culinary passion, and love of hosting a good party. As a longtime supporter of SEED Food and Wine during her Miami years, Tara cherished everything the festival represented, from the iconic Burger Battle to intimate dinners with visionaries.
Now, as the proud leader of SEED Food and Wine Austin, Tara is on a mission to make the festival a cornerstone event for the city, food enthusiasts, eco-conscious advocates, and anyone who loves a good time. By celebrating sustainability, conscious living, and plant-forward eating, she’s dedicated to creating an extraordinary experience that will leave every attendee inspired and eagerly anticipating the next SEED celebration.
